At a party you talk to everyone for five minutes. The guest of honour does not have to play host: everyone already lives there.

For the record: Villa Palmview is a place for celebrations, not for loud parties — after 10 pm the music goes low, as the house rules of any villa in a residential area ask. In practice that is not a limitation but a quality: it keeps the evening about conversation and being together, and keeps the neighbours — and your own sleepers — happy. Always discuss bigger plans (a marquee, live music during the day, extra day guests) in advance.

How to go about it

Pick a weekend outside the school holidays — better availability, friendlier prices — and send invitations well ahead: people need to keep a whole weekend free. Ask the villa about availability for your date; an answer usually comes within 24 hours. And keep the final evening free for the toast everyone came for.
