How it works

A weekend that is yours alone.

A wedding here is not a venue hire for one day. You take the whole estate for two or three nights: the ceremony, the dinner, the morning after, and twenty-eight of your people sleeping where the party is. That is the difference from a finca that hands you the keys at four and wants them back at midnight.

• Legally at home, symbolically here. Civil marriage in Spain is in practice closed to non-residents — the town hall route asks for registration in the municipality. Almost every couple therefore marries at home first and holds the real ceremony here, with a celebrant, in any language. Nothing about that is second-best: it is what the day looks like either way.
• Your suppliers, or ours. Planner, celebrant, caterer, photographer, flowers — you are free to bring your own. We know who works well here and will say so honestly.
• Plan B is part of the plan. On this coast the wind decides more often than the rain. We agree the covered alternative before you book, not the week before.
• Around eighty at the ceremony. That is the number the grounds carry comfortably, and more is open to discussion. How many sit down to dinner depends on the layout your planner chooses — long tables, rounds or a standing dinner all give a different answer. Twenty-eight of them sleep here; the rest go home or stay in Jávea.

Just the two of you, or barely more

An elopement or a small ceremony of up to about twenty guests uses one wing rather than the whole estate, and can be arranged at short notice — often within weeks. March, April, October and November are wide open and, honestly, kinder to photograph in than August.
