10 things to do in Jávea with a group of 18 to 28 people
A group of twenty-plus does not move like a couple. This list keeps that in mind: every item says how far it is from Villa Palmview, whether it works on foot or needs cars, and what the group actually does there. Distances are measured from our gate.

Jávea has three centres — the old town on the hill, the port, and the Arenal bay with its sandy beach — and the Montgó natural park above them. That mix is why big groups work well here: the sporty half can climb a mountain while the rest sit on a sandy beach, and everyone is back at the same long table by evening.
1. Walk to the Arenal beach and promenade
The Arenal is Jávea's sandy beach, about 1.1 km from the gate, roughly 15 minutes on foot. The promenade behind it has restaurants, cafés and shops, so a group can split up and regroup without anyone needing a car. For a lazy first day with 28 people, this is the obvious choice.
2. Spend a day at the Granadella cove
Cala Granadella is a pebble cove between pine-covered cliffs, 14 minutes by car. Go early in July and August: parking is limited and the road is closed when the cove is full. With a large group, two cars leaving at 9 am beats five cars leaving at 11.
3. Climb the Montgó
The Montgó rises to 753 m right behind the villa; the natural park is 15 minutes by car. The summit route is a half-day walk with proper shoes. Groups usually split: the walkers go up, the others take the easier paths around the Cap de Sant Antoni lighthouse and meet for lunch at the port.
4. Kayak or walk to the Cova Tallada
The Cova Tallada is a sea cave on the coast between Jávea and Dénia, reached by a rocky path or by kayak from the port. Access is regulated in summer, so book the slot in advance. It is a strong half-day for the adventurous part of the group.
5. Thursday morning: the Jávea market and the old town
The old town is 5 minutes by car. The weekly market is on Thursday morning; the indoor market next to the church of San Bartolomé is open on other days too. It is the easiest way to feed 28 people fresh produce for a long table dinner at the villa.
6. Cove-hop along the Cap de la Nau
Beyond the Arenal the coast turns to rock: Portitxol, Cala Blanca, Cap Negre and Ambolo are pebble or rock coves, each a short drive apart, with the Cap de la Nau itself 10 minutes away. Pick two for one afternoon rather than trying all of them.
7. Ride the Costa Blanca by road bike
Eight road rides start from the villa gate, from 38 to 128 km, with GPX files and route cards, plus five climbs and ten signposted family routes. Bike hire in Jávea is at Xàbia's Bike, with a 10% discount for our guests. The villa has a secure bike room and a place to wash the bikes.
8. Golf: five courses within 40 minutes
Club de Golf Jávea is 9 minutes away; La Sella (27 holes) 16 minutes; Club de Golf Ifach 24 minutes, with a 10% discount for our guests; Oliva Nova 31 minutes and Altea 40. A group of golfers and non-golfers can easily run two programmes for the day.
9. Visit the villages and their markets
Jesús Pobre, Gata de Gorgos and Benitatxell are 15 minutes away; Dénia and Moraira 20; Xaló with its wineries 30. Each has a weekly market: Monday Dénia, Friday Moraira and Gata, Saturday Xaló, Sunday Jesús Pobre and Pedreguer. Days can shift with the season.
10. Time the trip with a fiesta
Jávea celebrates all year: Three Kings in January, Carnival in March, the Fogueres de Sant Joan bonfires in June, Moors and Christians in July, and the Mare de Déu de Loreto fiestas in late August and early September. Dates shift each year, so check the calendar before you fix the week.
And on the days nobody wants to drive: the estate has its own sandy beach, a saltwater pool, beach volleyball, petanque, table tennis, a pool table and an outdoor kitchen with a big barbecue. See what there is to do at the villa or the full owners' guide to Jávea.
In short
Frequently asked questions.
The Arenal beach, the promenade and the supermarkets are on foot. For the coves, the Montgó and the villages you need cars; a group of 28 usually arrives with a coach or two minibuses and hires a few cars locally. Four cars park inside the gate, two just outside.
The sea is about 750 m from the gate and the Arenal sandy beach about 1.1 km, roughly 15 minutes on foot. The estate also has its own sandy beach inside the grounds.
Yes for walking, cycling and golf: daytime averages are 15 to 20 °C from November to March. Beach days are a summer thing; the Montgó, the coves and the markets work all year.
The Cova Tallada has regulated access in summer, golf tee times fill up in spring and autumn, and the Granadella road closes when the cove is full. Book those; everything else works on the day.
Twenty minutes’ drive and the whole Costa Blanca opens up.
